Providence Prayer-Hospitality House was founded in the
fall of 1986. It is a residence that provides
accommodation and services to persons in need of a place
to go to find time, space and an opportunity to heal,
rest and pray. It provides an environment where people
can reflect and renew their inner spirit. Spiritual
direction and/or counseling are available when
appropriate. The main objective is to assist persons
obtain this kind of help who are financially unable to
go to retreat centres or other similar places because of
the high costs.
To be part of the ministry in this residence is
personally demanding as well as a challenge to one's
trust in Providence. It is a willingness to be available
to those who are in need, to stretching our energies,
regardless of the time of day or length of time needed
for just our 'presence'. As a community we keep before
us the fact that Blessed Emilie Gamelin was always
available to those whom Providence sent to her, and ever
aware that a life of prayer keeps us all on solid ground.
